Volunteering with Feast

Feast is always looking for volunteers, and not just during the festival. If you would like to develop your skills and experience with us please read on.

Feast has a fantastic crew of volunteers and now is your chance to join them! Feast is an annual festival that creates, develops, supports and showcases local, national and international gay, lesbian and queer art and culture, enhancing South Australia’s profile nationally and internationally. Without our dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers, there would be no Feast.

Feast’s volunteer opportunities are many and varied so no matter what your interest, activity level or time commitment we will have something you can enjoy. Roles that volunteers engage in include:

  • Office work
  • Venue hosting including front of house, information booth and merchandising
  • Bar service and runners
  • Operations including some production, bump in and bump out
  • Driving
  • Artists services
  • Other tasks as requested.

The majority of volunteer roles and tasks occur in the lead up to and during the festival, however some roles operate year round. For example, Feast has a talented band of office volunteers that volunteer their services year round, generally for one day per week. If you are interested in volunteering in the Feast office please click here to email the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@feast.org.au.

As a Feast Volunteer you will receive numerous benefits and recognition including:

  • discount offers from sponsors through the year when available
  • discount offers during the festival
  • invitations to all Feast Volunteer events and other exclusive Feast events at either no or low cost
  • automatic entrance in to various prize draws throughout the year
  • a Volunteer Tshirt and Induction Showbag leading up the festival
  • being thanked and acknowledged at numerous Feast events throughout the festival
  • the opportunity to be a part of the Feast Volunteer ‘Main Course’. Click here to find out more about the Main Course.

Plus you will also get:

  • An opportunity to meet people who also love festivals, the arts and community service
  • An experience working with dedicated industry professionals
  • A chance to get an in house view of how a major contemporary arts festival works
  • Access to learn new skills

There are just a few simple guidelines to determine eligibility. You must:

  • be 17 years of age or over
  • complete the Feast Volunteer Registration Form
  • be willing to work in a team, sometimes with the public
  • attend a designated induction session and participate in training sessions
  • be friendly and non-judgmental
  • be committed to helping Feast
  • act in ways that best promote Feast and the wider Adelaide LGBTIQ community.

Before starting your first shift as a Feast Volunteer you must also complete the on-line volunteer training developed specifically for Feast Volunteers. To access the on-line volunteer training click here.

If you have any further questions you can email the volunteer coordinator or you can call the Feast office on (08) 8463 0684.

If you are keen to get started then download the registration form and either email it to the Volunteer Coordinator or send it to the Feast Office.
